Things I wish I knew

A few honest truths that save new players a lot of second-guessing. None of it is required reading, but all of it helps.

You cannot pick a wrong class

Every class can hold its own and reach the cap. Choose the fantasy you like, not the one someone else calls best.

Dying barely costs you

When you fall you rise as a ghost at the nearest graveyard. Run back to your body to revive free, or take the Pale Keeper's instant raise and carry a short-lived weakness for the convenience. No experience, gear, or coin is ever lost, so it is safe to take risks and learn.

Talents are not a trap

Your first talent comes at level 5, and each of the six rows is a single pick of three, so a build is a handful of choices you can see at a glance. You can reset whenever you are out of combat and not in an arena match, so nothing you choose early locks you in.

Follow the quest trail

Quests are the fastest way to level and they lead you across the world. When you are unsure where to go, find the next marker.

Keep your gear current

A fresh upgrade does more for you than perfect play in old gear. Take the quest rewards that suit your class.

Grouping is a choice, not a chore

Most of the world is soloable. Team up for dungeons and the raid, or just when you want some company.

Learn your resource

Rage, mana, or energy, managing it well is half of playing your class. Watch that bar, not only your cooldowns.

Rest between fights

Eat and drink to recover quickly, especially as a caster. A few seconds now saves a death later.
